Analysis of solid waste management practices in rural settings of Tanzania

This study explores the causes of ineffective solid waste management services in Tanzania’s rural settings which are made up district councils. It is inspired by fact that only 7.6% generated councils makes 74% total local government authorities country collected. The variables include data availability, minimization initiatives, financial reliability, service technological flexibility, convenient collection systems, responsive market, supportive legal framework, and stakeholder inclusivity. Literature review, direct observation, interviews, questionnaires constitute part methods. Questionnaires were distributed to 137 (100%) with over 95% responses. Zonal consultative meetings conducted six (6) zones representing 26 regions Mainland attended 26(100%) Regional Environmental Experts; 56 (30%) District Management Officers (DEMOs). findings show inadequacy financing, stakeholders’ inclusiveness, options, reliability. also presence a framework market for provision services. recommends; Improvement infrastructure; promotion enhancement formalization informal providers.
